Frank David Fuentes Lavastida was born in Havana Cuba and at age 7 he began his music studies at the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory and graduated from the National School of Art specializing in Drums and Percussion. During his studies he was part of the National School of Art Symphonic Orchestra in Havana.
Frank was member of the X Alfonso’s band, one of the leading bands of world music in Cuba and winner of a Goya Award and in 2006 Frank had the honor of playing in the London Barbican Room next to the Cuban master Anga.
Frank's skills and mastery of multiple percussion instruments made it possible for him to be part of the band Sintesis, a legendary and respected Afro-Cuban music band.
In 2010 Frank is invited to participate in the Puerto Rican group Calle 13. With Calle 13 Frank has appeared in numerous national and international scenarios, including United States, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Slovenia , Czech Republic, England , Italy, Greece, Colombia , Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and has participated in important festivals such as Roskilde, The Festate of Switzerland, Latinoamericando Festival in Milan , Maribor Festival in Slovenia, Colours of Ostrava in Czech Republic, Culture Forum in Monterrey, Peace and Love in Sweden, Jazz Plaza in Havana, and Maquinaria Fest in Chile.
