Biography
Joannie Labelle, known for her sensibility and her viral groove, can charm an audience as soon as her fingers strike the drums.
She studied latin percussion with teachers Normand Hervieux, Alain Labrosse, Luc Boivin, and Paul Picard. Since two years, she’s now exploring Indian drumming (mridangam) with Master Puvialagan Mayarajah.
She is now active on local and international scenes such as Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Bari or even Doha and Fort-de-France.
Joannie adds her touch with various local reknowned artists (Marie-Josée Lord, JFL, Philémon Chante) and she dynamises DJ sets (Fusion Festival [Germany], Eclipse Festival [Quebec], Terrasses Bonsecours, The Nocturnes of the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montréal).
Over the last three years, her new project created under the name bea boX has allowed her to combine composing, electronic music, percussion and singing.
