Biography

Larry Salzman is a drummer and world percussionist from Chicago Illinois. He now lives in Southern California. He specializes in ethnic percussion instruments from around the world. He has been referred to as a "Strong voice and leader in the percussion community" Currently Larry has over 40 album and CD credits, in addition to film, TV, and documentaries. Additionally he has three CD releases under his own name. His first release "Stratos" gained the attention of Grammy award winner and Windham Hill founder William Ackerman. Ackerman is quoted "The percussion core of this release is some of the best I have ever heard" Larry also maintains an active live freelance performance schedule with 120 or so performances a year. Larry is an official music licensee for Getty Music/Pump Audio, and Felt Music U.K. He is a member of several well respected groups in the Los Angeles area including The Translucent Ham Sandwich, vocalist Gina Suputo, singer songwriter Trevor Green. As well as the globally respected Indian fusion group Taal Tarrang where he performs next to the top classical Indian musicians. Larry also has his own private teaching practice for drum set and percussion.He has accompanied some of the top drum set players including Josh Freese, Evan Stone, Ramon Banda, and Tom Brechtlein.  Additionally Larry is a well respected looping artist and heads up his own looping based group, he has been invited to perform at the prestigious Y210K looping festival in October 2010.
