In this application the kanjira sounds great on a drum kit, unfortunately when used in any other application: like an actual kanjira, let me say it is one of the most disappointing excuses for an instrument with the Meinl name tacked on to it. I've played some of the lowest cheapest end kanjiras from india and this is probably the worst kanjira I've ever played. Everything from the skin to the crummy tunability. While I take full blame for not just going with Cooperman or Remo for quality constructed instruments, my main critique on this particular product would be at most to cut you losses and stop making this sub-par product for the price it is, or at the very least STOP marketing it as a kanjira!

Dear Morris,
Sorry to hear that you are so disappointed by our kanjira!
Actually, people really like it! Did you moisten the head a bit before playing?
The only disadvantage is that we only offer it with goat skin at the moment - which isn't the ideal head for this kind of drum, but it works and we are already working on alternatives as well.
Thanks for your constructive feedback!
