WHAT'S GOING ON?
27Apr 2010
who decided that a day has only 24 hours?! i wouldn’t mind if it’s getting dark in between… but i really could need some extra hours these days!
anyways, last week i worked on several prototypes, together with bill saragosa - great stuff! i’m sure YOU, the percussionists, will love them.
in the meantime, all congas from our “conga design contest” have returned. i shot them for our online-voting which will be launched by tomorrow.
we got many awesome designs from the participants… my team and i are really astonished! i just have to prepare the photos and put them online. we also made a cool application for our meinl percussion facebook account. but more on that tomorrow.
one designer-team forwarded some photos from the origination process (seen on the attached pics). thanks to nelly brunkow and adrian florae for sharing this with us! i can imagine all the passion and endurance everybody put into this project… it’s very appreciated!
this week, we’re having an agency pitch. in other words – we're running a meeting marathon! but i’m looking forward to it and i enjoy all the inspiration, new ideas, and smart marketing ways that are going to be introduced.
next week i’ll be in london and in paris to check out some major european drum stores for gathering information and feedback on our instruments and also to do some market analysis.
stay tuned for our online conga contest...

SUPPORT AND INSPIRATION
20Apr 2010
hi people,
i'm back from a very inspiring and efficient tour across germany, where i've met with several inventors and product specialists.
first i went to regensburg to meet with mr. bauer who's very much into samba. i showed him our new prototypes and he totally fell in love with them. just some little details that need to be changed... but altogether, the perfect drums to complete our wide variety of samba instruments.
after that i went to frankfurt and visited mr. buchner (as recommended by meinl artist oliver rubow). mr. buchner is a home constructor. his whole house is a mixture of a recording studio and a museum of instruments and recording tools. crazy! he came up with some groundbreaking new ideas for percussion instruments... something i'm really looking forward to working on.
my next destination was hamburg in northern germany. there i met with two music teachers: cherif floehr-khalil and my old friend arend schmidt-landmeier, with whom i've already developed some meinl instruments. arend is a cajon expert and cherif had some awesome shaker ideas in his pocket. it was nice to see those guys again - thanks for your time and good spirits!
during my trip i went to some drum stores in the cities mentioned above, in order to do some market analysis, interviewing the staff about current trends, and so on.
i also checked the instore situation of each shop to see if there's something to optimize, since we have a clear focuse on instore displays and POS solutions these days. please find enclosed some pics i took at just music in hamburg.
thanks to everybody for your help and input - this is very much appreciated! you inspired me again and WE'll do our best to realize YOUR ideas!

ps. i just had a skype-conference with one of our producer from thailand while typing this blog. he showed me first prototypes of other new projects that are already in the pipeline - wow!
world... be prepared! ;-)
