Why isn't my video showing up in search?
Depending on site traffic, changes to video information can take 8 hours or more to show up in the search index after they've been uploaded, changed, or removed. This includes changes to tags, ratings, views, and comments. Please be patient -- the video will show in the search index shortly. To bypass this time, you may want to send your friends the link of the video via email or private message.
Note that unless the category of the video is specified as a tag it may not be indexed for a video search. To find a category (and their videos), search for their tags and then select the category on the top side of the page.
What are tags? How do I add them?
Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a conga video might be tagged with "conga," "percussion,” " Users who enjoy watching conga videos can then search for any of those terms and that video will show up in their search results. Tags help you label videos you upload so that other people can find them more easily.
Add tags to your videos by clicking the "My Videos" link and selecting "Edit Video”. Enter as many tags as you'd like into the Tags field and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
What should I put in my video description?
To best promote your video, you'll want its description to be both accurate and interesting. Here are a few tips to help you get started:
-Make your description clear and specific.
Your video should stand out from the crowd. Try to determine what content it contains that will help users find it and distinguish it from other videos. Using descriptive language in complete sentences is a good idea.
-Give credit when appropriate.
If people don't know the exact title or other keywords associated with your video, they might search the name of a participant or another website where it's featured. Be sure to include as much information as you feel comfortable, but be careful not to include anything that shouldn't be publicly displayed.
-Categorize correctly.
The category into which you place your video is part of its description as well. People are more likely to rate your video highly and watch it more frequently if it's placed in a relevant category.
