uploading videos to meinl percussion

Why isn't my video showing up in search?

Depending on site traffic, changes to video information can take 8 hours or more to show up in the search index after they've been uploaded, changed, or removed. This includes changes to tags, ratings, views, and comments. Please be patient -- the video will show in the search index shortly. To bypass this time, you may want to send your friends the link of the video via email or private message.

Note that unless the category of the video is specified as a tag it may not be indexed for a video search. To find a category (and their videos), perform a search for their tags and then select the category on the top side of the page.

How do I upload a video?

Once you’ve finished editing your video, made sure it's smaller than 100MB, and in an acceptable format, you're ready to upload it.

1.    Make sure you are logged in.
2.    Click "My Account" on the right of any MEINL percussion page and then click “Upload a Video” in the “Video-Upload” section.
3.    Click the “Browse” button and choose your acceptable video.
4.    Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description, Category, and Tags. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
5.    Click the "Save” button below.

How long will my video take to upload?

Depending on your connection speed and the size of the video, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a video. Generally, if you have a high-speed Internet connection you can expect the upload to take somewhere between 1-5 minutes for every 1MB. However, the experience is different for every user because of the variation in connection speeds.

How long are my videos available on MEINL percussion?

Videos stay on MEINL percussion until the members who uploaded them choose to take them down. Videos which violate the Terms of Use (http://www.meinlpercussion.com/t/terms) may be taken down by MEINL percussion.

Do I have to sign up to upload videos?

Yes. Since videos are attached to your profile, you must sign up as a member to upload videos. Becoming a member also allows you to save videos, create favourites list, and leave comments, among many other features.

What video file formats can I upload?

MEINL percussion accepts video files from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MPG, .MPEG, .MOV and .WMV file formats.

What's the best format to upload for high quality?

We recommend the following settings:
·    MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format 320x240 resolution
·    MP3 audio
·    30 frames per second
Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better on MEINL percussion.

How long/large can my video be?

All videos uploaded to MEINL percussion have a 100MB file size limit. The longer the video is the more compression will be required to fit it into that size. For that reason, most videos on MEINL percussion are under five minutes long.

Is there a limit to how many videos I can upload?

We don't have any limit for the number of videos you can upload, and don't foresee adding a ceiling anytime in the future. So start making videos and upload as many as you'd like—it's more content for the whole MEINL percussion community to enjoy!

My upload's been running a long time and hasn't completed. What should I do?

Uploading a video can take several hours, depending on the length of your video and the demand on the servers. If your video upload is taking longer than 24 hours to complete, we recommend cancelling the upload, checking the length and settings for your video, and uploading it again. During the upload procedure it can come up as a flash player script message. If you deny this message your upload will complete.

What does "AN ERROR OCURRED DURING CONVERTING YOUR VIDEO” mean?

This means that your video is in a format that our system doesn't accept. We accept most file formats, including .wmv, .mov, .mpg, or .avi. If your video meets these minimum requirements and still won't upload, it may be due to a problem with the video compression you are using. We recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio.

If you're using Windows Movie Maker, it's also possible that you tried to upload your .MSWMM file. This is not an actual movie file. An .MSWMM file is a Windows Movie Maker project file. If you're satisfied with your movie, choose the "Save Movie File" option under the "File" menu to create a movie file that can be uploaded to MEINL percussion.
