Today I wanted to talk to you about master Percussionist David Rosado Cuba. David is currently the Timbale player for the great salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa with which he is been playing since 1986. With Gilberto, or Gilbertito like some fans like to call him, David has played in the most prestigious stages around the world and recorded more than 11 award winning albums.
As a Timbalero, David plays all kinds of styles including the traditional salsa style and the modern salsa style and if you are curious about this, check the videos in his profile and in our YouTube channel where he explains both. In these videos he also mentions two of the most important mentors in his life as a percussionist, the great Tito Puente and Rafael Cortijo, both influential figures in the development of Afro-Cuban music as well as the dissemination of Puerto Rican music.
Currently David lives in Puerto Rico with his wife Evelyn and his two sons David Fernando and David Antonio.
I've had the chance to hang out with him several times in Puerto Rico and I have to say that every time I've learned something new about Timbales or Congas or Salsa from him.
I'm very happy that David is now part of the MEINL Percussion team.
