Is with great pleasure that I want to announce that Edwin Clemente is now part of the MEINL percussion selected group of artists.
Born in Puerto Rico Edwin Clemente studied at the CMPR (Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico) and ‘Escuela Libre de Música’ in Carolina, PR and has traveled the world with his talent. He’s presently working with his own band having produced the Salsa CDs "Timbal P`al Bailador" and "Aqui Traigo la Rumba Bailador". Also "Viva Clemente", this one in the Latin Jazz genre.
He’s also the timbale player for the orchestras of Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Ismael Miranda, Bobby Valentin and Tommy Olivencia. Edwin has participated in more than 200 musical productions including ‘Richie Ray y Bobby Cruz 40th Aniversary’, Ray Barreto’s "50th Aniversary’ ‘Que Viva la Música’, Jerry Rivera, Tony Vega, Olga Tañón (Grammy Awards) , Lalo Rodriguez, Daddy Yankee and Puerto Rico “All Stars” among others.
In addition to his performances, Edwin has been involved in education throughout his career. He’s presently teaching in San Juan at ‘Departamento de Arte, Cultura y Turismo’ and “Bellas Artes De Bayamón”. Prior to this he taught at ‘Escuela Libre de Música” in Carolina as well as the School of Fine Arts in Trujillo Alto. He has also presented clinics at “Universidad Interamericana”,Conservatory of Music in PR. And The National University of Bogota, Colombia.
Other music genres where Edwin has participated are Reggaetón with Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel and Tego Calderon; Ballads with José Feliciano; Rock in Spanish with Fiel a la Vega; Jazz with ‘Rumba Jazz’, Erick Figueroa , Juancito Torres and 3DZone; Salsa with Ray Barreto, Eddie Palmieri , Richie Ray , Bobby Valentin and Fania All Stars among others. One of Edwin’s honors was to be chosen as the Timbale player for the series of memorial concerts named "Viva Puente" (A tribute to the King) throughout the United States and directed by prestigious director Angel” Cuco” Peña.
