MEINL DRUM FESTIVAL

23Jun 2010

dear friends,

my trip to bangkok went pretty good. we are working on nice and promising projects... can't wait to see first prototypes!

next upcoming high-light will be the MEINL DRUM FESTIVAL 2010 which is going to take place this saturday! you can imagine that everybody is working to capacity right now...

we got meinl percussion artist holger mertin for a stunning frame drum performance. bertil mark will be jamming together with oli rubow along some electronic beats. bill saragosa and charly boeck are going to entertain our visitors with drum circles during the whole day! and last but not least we present an exquisite selection of some of the best drummers nowadays! make sure to check the website and drop by if you have a chance.

even meinl artist lerryns hernandez (bongo project) from venezuela is visiting us later today! will be great to finally meet in person...

beside the two stages we will have a wide cymbal and percussion exhibition including the 30 designed congas from our contest!

i'm looking forward to this event and i hope many of you are going to show up!

PROJECT PLANNING IN BANGKOK

28May 2010

last day in our office before we close for a one week company vacation.

nice, isn't it?

next week i'll fly to bangkok to discuss all new projects with our partners over there. i'm happy that the political situation has calmed down somewhat. no more riots in the streets... i also could have told them by skype and email, but sitting around one table with the prototypes in front of us is always the best way to get things done.

there are many promising projects we are currently working on. so let's see what we got in the end.

i wish you all a happy spring/summer time!
you'll hear from me... sooner or later ;-)

ramesh with our professional tabla

yesterday i visited meinl artist ramesh shotham in cologne where we talked about new product ideas for meinl percussion! ramesh originally comes from india and has the best background knowledge for that kind of instruments i am thinking about.

well, let's see what comes out in the end, but i'm very confident about it.

thanks ramesh for you time, thoughts, and good vibes!

TAKU HIRANO WITH THE MEINL PROFESSIONAL TABLA

12May 2010

meinl artist taku hirano performed with shakira using the meinl professional tabla!

"pretty impressive! no other major percussion manufacturer has attempted adding tabla to their catalogue, and meinl did it right by linking up with master craftsmen in india. they even hammered a custom meinl insignia on the copper bayan!" comments taku hirano.

i'm glad to hear good feedback on those drums. it took us quite a while to find one of the best craftsman for tablas. these are some really fine drums that are worth each penny!

WHAT'S GOING ON?

27Apr 2010

who decided that a day has only 24 hours?! i wouldn’t mind if it’s getting dark in between… but i really could need some extra hours these days!

anyways, last week i worked on several prototypes, together with bill saragosa - great stuff! i’m sure YOU, the percussionists, will love them.

in the meantime, all congas from our “conga design contest” have returned. i shot them for our online-voting which will be launched by tomorrow.
we got many awesome designs from the participants… my team and i are really astonished! i just have to prepare the photos and put them online. we also made a cool application for our meinl percussion facebook account. but more on that tomorrow.

one designer-team forwarded some photos from the origination process (seen on the attached pics). thanks to nelly brunkow and adrian florae for sharing this with us! i can imagine all the passion and endurance everybody put into this project… it’s very appreciated!

this week, we’re having an agency pitch. in other words – we're running a meeting marathon! but i’m looking forward to it and i enjoy all the inspiration, new ideas, and smart marketing ways that are going to be introduced.

next week i’ll be in london and in paris to check out some major european drum stores for gathering information and feedback on our instruments and also to do some market analysis.

stay tuned for our online conga contest...
