About Me:

Tamba gwindi has been involved in the study, performance and dissemination of hand drumming and percussion for approximately thirty years.He was born on the island of Trinidad in the unitary state of Trinidad And Tobago in the southern Caribbean.Tamba was first exposed to the art of Drumming by his late father Carlton Olton who followed and supported the tradition of KALINDA OR stick fight which was an integral part of the African traditions that had survived on the island of trinidad.Tamba learned these Rhythms on the kitchen table of his childhood home and continued to express them on the classroom desks of St stephens college which he attended.While at college he was exposed to a recording ofthe legendery CANDIDO CAMEO of Cuba.It was then that he decided to persue drumming seriously.Overe these thirty years tamba has worked with top local and interinternational such as ANDY NARRELL. RALPH MACDONALD ,ENRIQUE PLA GARCIA .TK BLUE ,CALYPSO ICONS-THE MIGHTY SPARROW AND MANY OTHERS
