Alejandro Suarez was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. From a very young age he had contact with the world of percussion through Candombe (Uruguayan Afro rhythm). This early contact with the base drum was his foundation to research, study and develop the rhythms of Cuba, Brazil and West Africa. This led him to take courses with many teachers in Uruguay and Cuba.

Throughout his career he has participated in live performances and studio recordings with many artists of different genres, including Juan Prada (Cuba), Hector Costita (Argentina), Alejandro Herrera (Brazil), Arturo Schneider (Argentina), Panchito Nolé (Uruguay), Julio Frade (Uruguay), Walfredo Reyes jr. (Cuba), Ricardo Nolé (Uruguay), Juan Cruz de Urquiza (Argentina), Jojo Benavent (Usa) and Oscar Valdés (Cuba).

He has participated in the recording of more than 20 albums and counting!
Today he is based in Buenos Aires Argentina, working as both a session musician and live performer with different artists from the local scene. He also leads clinics and teaches private lessons.
