From San Juan, Puerto Rico Juan L. Picorelli was already playing drums for hos church at the tender age of four. Taught by his father and uncles, Juan learned how to play bongos, congas, and timbales very early in life, and later started taking lessons from Santiago“Chago”Martinez at Escuela Libre de Musica in San Juan, a well-respected music school in Puerto Rico.

At the age of sixteen he became a band member for Salsa Christian duo, David & Abraham and later he became musical director for the group. During this time, he also performed with artists such as Alex D' Castro and Ezequiel Colon, Jorge”Piro”Romero, Jose”Papo”Rivera, among others.

From 2003 through 2005, Juan was a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico and soon afterwards, he performed with many notable artists including Michael Stuart, Cano Estremera, Lalo Rodriguez, Elias Lopes, Domingo Quiñones, Rey Ruiz, N'klabe, Tito Nieves, Frankie Negron, Plena Libre, Chucho Avellanet, NG2 to mention just a few.

Throughout his career, Picorelli has recorded for various artists including Victor Manuelle, Abraham Velazquez, Jose Ferrer, Anthon, Lunny Tunes, NG2, Papo Santiago, Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, and many others. 

 Picorelli has had the opportunity to perform with Aretha Franklin, Paquito D’ Rivera, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Etiennne Charles, Maelo Ruiz, Tito Puente Jr., Yoko, Brenda K. Starr, Luisito Carrion, Eddie Santiago, Tony Vega, Johnny Rivera, Lefty Perez, Van Lester, Ismael Miranda, Larry Harlow, Frankie Morales, Paquito Acosta, Kevin Ceballo, Wichie Camacho, Hector Tricoche, Ray De La Paz, Herman Olivera, Willy Torres, Puchi Colon, La India, Albita, Pedro Jesus, Roberto Blades, Prodigio Claudio, Quique Domenech, Papo Sanchez, Tito Rojas, and many others. 

Juan also participated as timbal player in the Off –Broadway “The Life & Music of Celia Cruz” and has had the privilege to perform in prestigious stages such as Radio City Music Hall, Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Harris Theater, Chicago Jazz Festival, Chicago Salsa Congress, Switzerland Salsa Congress, Puerto Rico Salsa Congress, Dia Nacional de la Salsa, Latin Grammys, and United Center. 

Picorelli is currently the musical director and conga player for world renowned latin singer  Victor Manuelle “El Sonero de la Juventud”. Watch out for him and his "Casi 20" 2013 world tour.
