Lucy Landymore is a British award winning multi-percussionist, drummer and composer.

She frequently performs to sold out arenas across Europe as the drummer with the World

of Hans Zimmer. Previously, she performed on percussion with Hans Zimmer Live, which

can be seen on the DVD Live in Prague. Lucy has also performed on drum kit in arenas

across Austria, with the world famous Tenor Andrea Bocelli. She also loves to perform as

guest lead percussionist and drummer with classical comedy duo Igudesman & Joo.

Other artists Lucy has performed with include Mura Masa, NAO, Myles Sanko, Alex

Wilson and Stewart Copeland.

Lucy's fascination with drums was obvious from the age of 2, as she watched

performances by her father's big band 78RPM. From the age of 9, Lucy rehearsed with

Linton Jazz, where she developed her big band playing. She also developed her classical

playing with NYO, Aldeburgh Young Musicians and St. Luke's LSO Academy for

Percussion. In 2010, Lucy won the percussion category of the BBC Young Musician of the

Year, where she performed Frank Zappa’s famous drum solo The Black Page.

Lucy studied classical percussion at the Royal College of Music, simultaneously giving

recitals across the UK in venues like St. John's Smith Square, the V&A museum and

Kettles Yard, Cambridge. As a result of being exposed to music from Mali, India, Brazil,

Cuba and Senegal through tuition in her childhood, she incorporates her knowledge of

multiple genres in her solo recitals on tuned percussion, latin percussion and drum kit.

Her passion lead her to study intensely in Rio de Janeiro 2015 and Cuba 2018/19,

including lessons with the legendary Changuito.

The inspiration from so many genres gives Lucy the desire to compose. Vibr-ant for solo

vibraphone, is now published on Universal Editions, along with a music video featuring

Lucy performing her own work. Lucy has written a wide range of vibraphone solos,

including a range of pieces dedicated to individuals struggling with specific mental health

Lucy has also toured and performed her work Roo for solo vibraphone, violin and

orchestra in venues across Italy, Portugal and Austria. Roo was performed with the Vienna

Chamber Orchestra in the Vienna Konzerthaus for the New Year 2019.

A premiere of Landymore's ensemble music was held in the Tonhalle Maag, Zurich in June

2018 for Fussball im Konzert; a More Than Classic concert fusing together music and

sport with the FIFA World Cup football match 2018. She continued this theme with

basketballers for Music in Motion in Erfurt, Germany. Lucy and her brother, producer Ben

Landymore, have also composed the film score for SHIELD, directed by Yijie Mei. Lucy is

currently working on a project with film director Zu Quirke.
