Biography
From Maracaibo Venezuela, Alejandro Araujo is a professional percussionist, educator, and drummer. Alejandro’s passion for music began at the age of 18 while playing with various local Venezuelan bands. Throughout his career, he acquired extensive experience playing many different styles of music like salsa, Latin pop, Latin rock, gospel, Afro-Venezuelan, Jazz, and many others. Alejandro finished his Music Theory studies at the Conservatory of Music of Maracaibo and Musicology at the Cecilio Acosta University.
Alejandro has extensive recording experience. He has been nominated two times for a Latin Grammy for the album “Tiempo” by the Venezuelan band Tecupae. With the group, Voz Veis Alejandro, he won two Latin Grammy Awards with the albums “Como se llega a Belen” and “Una noche comun y sin corriente”.
Alejandro has had the privilege of playing with artists like Argenis Carruyo, Andy Montañez, Jose Feliciano, Bacanos, El Pollo Brito, Bonnie Cepeda, Carangano, La Tropa Loca, and Monica, a Latin Grammy Winner as Best Christian Album, among others.
In Maracaibo, Alejandro is the Director and Professor of the World Music Academy, which teaches around 450 students. As a clinician, he has also conducted clinics in Venezuela, in different venues and educational institutions like Universities and High Schools. He has also participated in workshops and seminars with artists like Luisito Quintero, Karl Perazzo, Robert Vilera, Jose Luis Quintana (Changuito) Ralph Irizarri, and Alex Acuña and also performed with well-recognized artist Abraham Laboriel.
