Diego Camacho Biography

Born in Cali, Colombia, Diego Camacho is a complete percussionist with a deep-rooted passion for music that began in his early years. His musical journey was inspired by his uncles, who indulged in percussion as a cherished pastime during family gatherings. Diego's fascination with percussion instruments blossomed during his school days, leading him to pursue formal studies in the art. In a remarkably short span, he found himself performing with local orchestras, solidifying his place in the music scene.

Upon completing his high school education, Diego embarked on a professional music career, taking him far and wide with bands both within and beyond the borders of Colombia. These musical expeditions saw him traverse the globe, enriching his experience and repertoire.
Among Diego's recent accomplishments, a noteworthy highlight is his collaboration with esteemed artists such as El Grupo Niche, Diego el Cigala, Thalia, Gente de Zona, Marc Anthony, Víctor Manuelle, Lin Manuel, Jlo, Luis Figueroa, Daniela Darcourt, Sergio George, Karol G, Lenny Tavares, Fonseca, Maia, Luis Enrrique, Jacob Forever, Yahaira Plasencia, Rey Ruiz, Zion y Lenox, Sheila E, Leoni Torres, Servando y Florentino, Ronald Borjas, Tito Nieves, Olga Tańon, Mottif, Albita Rodríguez, La India, and many others. Grupo Niche, a well-renowned band founded by Jairo Varela from Cali, Colombia has a trajectory of 40 years. Diego holds the distinguished role of Timbale player for the globally renowned salsa ensemble, "Grupo Niche," from his native Colombia for over 10 years. Diego has traveled the world and is currently a member of the history making Salsa band. Their latest album, “Niche Sinfonico,” is one of a kind where the Salsa ensemble joins an orchestra of 100+ musicians.

Presently, Diego has established his recording studio in Miami, where he dedicates his talents to producing and recording for artists from around the world. He is widely recognized as one of the premier Latin percussionists in Miami, with a specialization in the Timbales, though his proficiency extends to various other world percussion instruments. He remains in high demand as a percussionist and music director for several Latin bands in the vibrant Miami music scene, showcasing his exceptional skill and unwavering dedication to the craft.
