Biography
Career
Luis was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Rhythm is in his blood. At the age of 14, he started playing percussion in several Samba Schools. During this time he practiced a lot of sports and got to know the connection between rhythm and sports, which led to a degree in Sports Science in Brazil. He completed his university studies in the late '80s.
In 1990 he came to Europe, originally to attend a postgraduate course to his sports degree. Due to the strong encouragement of his oldest sister (singer & dancer) and his brother-in-law (guitarist), Luis decided to become a musician. For this reason, he moved the center of his life to Vienna. For one whole year, he was preparing the entrance examination at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and in 1994 he started to study drums. From then on, his career as a percussionist evolved and he was soon on tour with many different artists.
Work
His life and work benefit from the connection to his South American roots and his education and life in Vienna. Being an artist, but also an entrepreneur at the same time, is the optimal balance for him; both parts inspire each other. Creativity, art, structure, and reliability are not mutually exclusive but complement each other perfectly.
