Biography
One of the most influential Mandigue drum musicians and educators in China, the founder of The Jungle Groove. He's a member of the famous APO SOUNPO Mandigue drum ensemble.
Li studied classical music at his early age, began to learn modern Western music of various styles since he was teenager, mastered the performance of a variety of instruments and had a wealth of creative skills of music. In the 1990s, Li formed a number of bands and quickly became a hot professional working musician, also participated in the recording of a large number of music albums.
On the way of self-improvement, Li became interested in exploring the roots of modern music, then he began to learn Djembe and traditional, mandigue music. Li has learnt from many mandigue masters, such as: Mamady Keita, Babara Bangoura, Bangourake, Hiroki, Kelvin Kew, etc.
The Jungle Groove education system founded by Ray Li has delivered a large number of outstanding music talents to the domestic music business over the years. Because of his perennial efforts to promote mandigue culture in China, the great contribution made to it has been recognized internationally. In the year 2014, Ray Li received the certificate of "contribution of promoting mandigue music and cultural worldwide" award, from the mandigue music master Mamady Keita.
