Biography
Deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban culture and wide open to the music of the world - this fusion is close to Roberto's heart. "Cuban Rhythm Express meets soultrain" is the name of his current band project. Soul hits in Salsa, Cha Cha, and Reggaeton.
Where Roberto Santamaria grew up, music is up in the air: Here, in the small side street "Anton Recio" of Jesús Maria, a district of old Havana, the Rumba is at home. This is where Celia Cruz and Enrique Jorring, the inventor of the Cha Cha, danced. His famous uncle Mongo Santamaria lived here and emigrated to the USA, where he introduced percussion to North American Jazz: For Roberto, a role model, and legacy throughout his life.
