[Artist Spotlight] Mark Essien

Mark Kofi Essien born on March, 9th in Ghana, West Africa is a so-called musical allrounder. In his childhood Mark was singer and drummer in church. As a teenager he studied the art of traditionally drums and dance at the Youth Art Council. Followed by the first tour with his first band throuout Africa. Mark expanded his skills steadily and was quick in learning new instruments. He also studied new singing techniques. The fanatic interest in rhythm and music gave him always new motivation for new techniques.

He dominates not only all percussion techniques, but also playing drums, bass, panflute, guitar and keyboards and is a singer. Mark is a steady member of the Rhein-Neckar-Delta scene, the Herbert Grönemeyer band and since 2008 the Howard Carpendale musicians. In 2009 he released his first gospel soloalbum "Moma Yensum No".
