Biography
Alberto García (Gran Canaria, 1990) is a virtuoso percussionist, composer, and educator, regarded as one of the most versatile and influential voices in today’s jazz scene. His exceptional command of percussion and profound understanding of jazz, flamenco, as well as Afro-Cuban and Brazilian traditions, have led him to collaborate with some of the most prominent figures in jazz and world music, moving effortlessly between contemporaryimprovisation and the roots of global rhythm.
His stylistic breadth and talent have enabled him to perform and record with renowned artists such as Seamus Blake, Alfredo de la Fé, Haila, Alain Pérez, and Jeff Ballard, building bridges across genres and expanding the boundaries of percussion in modern jazz.
In the academic field, Alberto serves as Professor of Jazz Percussion at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, as well as Teacher at the Konservatorium Winterthur and the Jazzcampus Basel. His passion for teaching has also led him to give masterclasses at prestigious institutions such as the Manuel Saumell Conservatory in Havana, the José María Ochoa Conservatory in Holguín (Cuba), and the Trobada de Percussió de Pollença in Mallorca, establishing himselfas a significant reference in the field of jazz and improvisational percussion.
