Biography
Claudio Estay began his percussion studies at the conservatory in Santiago de Chile; in 1999 he moved to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. During various engagements in South America (Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Chile, Symphony Orchestra "Simón Bolívar" in Caracas/Venezuela) he was intensively engaged in Folk Latin American music. Since 2002 he has played in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. He regularly appears in solo recitals and chamber concerts. From 2004 to 2010 he was principal timpanist of the Hofer Symphoniker. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich since 2013 he's the 1st percussionist in the Bavarian State Orchestra.
