Biography
Fabio Acevedo Zapata (better known as Fito Az) was born on May 3, 1990 in Medellín, Colombia. He is a percussionist musician, well known for his skills and knowledge in the performance of instruments such as the timbal, congas, bongo, multipercussion and folkloric percussion, with particular emphasis on Colombian and Latin American rhythms and world fusions.
From an early age, Fito Az grew up listening to salsa music, as his father had a record collection of great exponents of this genre. Since then, he was attracted to salsa music, influenced by his father, who gave him his first timbal at the age of 8 years old. Then, Fito Az entered the school and participated in some extension courses, where he received his first percussion lessons.
At the age of 14, he began to play with different orchestras in the region, which gave him his first experiences in the field of music.
When he was 18, Fito Az joined nationally and internationally renowned bands such as The Latin Brothers, Fruko y sus Tesos, Banda la Bocana and La Sonora Dinamita, thus paving the way for his first tours.
In recent years, he has stood out for playing with international salsa artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito Rojas, Rey Ruiz, Luisito Carrión, Jimmy Bosch, Yan Collazo, Nino Segarra, David Pabón, Mauro Castillo, among others.
He has also participated with artists of other genres such as Carlos Vives, Greeicy Rendón, Mike Bahía, Adriana Lucía, Golpe a Golpe, Pastor López, El Combo De Las Estrellas, Kinito Mendez, Roberto Antonio, Los Hijos De Puerto Rico and some others.
Currently, he is a member of Alberto Barros y su All Star colombiana, an orchestra with which he tours different places around the world.
He has also had the opportunity to work with some renowned producers such as Sergio George, Saga White Black, Eliot El Mago D' Oz, Sebas Velásquez, Pedro Valdez, among others, and has participated in recordings for artists such as Tito Nieves, J. Álvarez, Farruko, Dj Nelson, Alberto Style, Fanny Lu, Olga Tañón, MC Ceja, Magic Juan, Golpe a Gople, Aguanilé, Nacho Acero, Yan Collazo, and Michel el Buenón.
