Juan Guillermo Aguilar Biography

Juan Guillermo Aguilar Bayer (Coso) is one of Colombia’s most versatile drummers, which has allowed him to record/play with artists like Juanes, Andrés Cepeda, Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Maluma, Sebastián Yatra, Totó la Momposina, Petrona Martínez, Juan Carlos Coronel, Richie Ray, Fonseca, Amaury Gutiérrez, Dave Valentin, Chocquibtown, among others.

He has performed on approximately 100 international tours around Asia, Europe, and America. As a teacher, he has taught Colombian and Latin Percussion clinics at universities, academies, and percussion festivals as Berklee College of Music, Universität für Musik (Vienna, Austria), Primer Encuentro de Bateristas Afro-caribeños, among others. He developed the Colombian Drumming DVD. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award and he won a Latin Grammy Award with Andrés Cepeda Big Band. He has his own studio (Mountain Grooves), focused on record drums and percussion. He is endorsed by Meinl Percussion, Earthworks microphones, Yamaha drums, Aquarian drumheads, Boutique Pro Audio gear, and Gama drumsticks.
