Biography
Taku Hirano, one of the most in-demand percussionists of his generation - a musical chameleon onstage and in-studio, whether supporting iconic artists or fronting his own projects. He has worked with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, Dr. Dre to Dr. John, and referred to by Mick Fleetwood, founder and drummer for Fleetwood Mac, as his "Secret Weapon."
Taku’s client list of luminaries spans practically every genre. He has toured the world with Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, John Mayer, Bette Midler, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Richie, Dr. John, LeAnn Rimes and Isaac Hayes. He has recorded with Dr. Dre, Ziggy Marley, Snoop Dogg, Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie, Nelly Furtado and LeAnn Rimes. His live performances also include backing Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Annie Lennox, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, George Clinton, Willie Nelson, Herbie Hancock, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, John Legend, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Herbie Hancock, Peter Frampton and Andrea Bocelli.
Taku has been a Meinl Percussion artist since 2008.
