Biography
Based in Brooklyn NYC, Víctor Pablo García-Gaetán is a multifaceted sought-after percussionist, drummer, composer, and educator. He sets to explore the fringes where language and convention meet newer influences and interpretations with bands and artists of new generations - NYC world timba band People of Earth, Cuban trumpeter Kalí Rodríguez-Peña & Mèlange, Puerto Rican drummer Fernando García’s bomba-jazz fusion, Israeli/Gypsy/Latin funk band TM Street Band, and contemporary chamber group Mobius Percussion.
Also immersed in Theater, Victor has been the timpanist to Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular feat. The Rockettes for various seasons, percussionist for Disney/Public Works’ Hercules, and percussionist/singer for Fuerza Bruta NYC. He’s also performed in Broadway shows like The Lion King, Beetlejuice, On Your Feet!, TINA, and more. The freelancer life has taken him to perform with artists such as Arturo O’Farrill, Los Pleneros de la 21, Nestor Torres, Albert Marquès, Ismael Miranda, Michael Stuart, DLG, Cynthia Erivo, Jeffrrey Iqbal, Itai Kriss, Wordless Music Orchestra, Roomful of Teeth, Delaware Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra Percussion Group (POPG) to name a few. He can be heard in recordings like Gilberto Santa Rosa 's En Buena Compañía, Fernando García’s Guasábara Puerto Rico, La Sonora Sanjuanera’s Pa’l Bailador Que Guapea, among others and more coming up. He’s also made appearances in shows like Mozart In The Jungle, and America’s Got Talent.
Native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Víctor Pablo was raised in a musical family surrounded by rhythm and song. Studying with masters Tito De Gracia, Tony Sánchez, Diana Valdés, David Marcano, Rolando Morales-Matos, and often shared the stage with many others such as David Rosado Cuba learning “hands on” from the job. He left the Island to pursue a BM and MM in orchestral percussion from Temple University in Philadelphia under the late Alan Abel, Chris Deviney, and Glenn Steele. He then relocated to NYC where he is active in Broadway, jazz, film recording, local orchestras, contemporary chamber music, singer-songwriters, and Latin and Afro-Caribbean musics.
