Biography
Professional musician, percussionist – director and founder of PUERTO COLOMBIA ENSAMBLE. Fabio has shared with artists such as Herman Olivera, La Puerto Rican Power, Victor Manuelle, Andrés Cepeda, Pupy Santiago, Juan Pablo Vega, Maite Hontelé, Pantoja, Flora Martínez, among others. Fabio was born in Pasto, Colombia and started his path in music when he was 13 years old. Later, he entered the Teacher in Musical Instrument program at the University of Cauca in Popayán, Colombia. Two years later he transferred to the popular music program of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, getting the honor MAGNA CUM LAUDE upon graduation. Fabio, was under the tutelage of the percussionists Raúl Rodríguez "Tatoo", Andrew Lázaro and Gabriel Aledo. Extracurricularly had as his mentor the renowned Puerto Rican percussionist David "La Mole" Ortiz. Fabio has participated in important events and festivals such as The Colors of Percussion Festival in Freistadt - Austria, the Clarinet Fest in Ostend - Belgium, the Borikén Awards in Kissimmee - Florida, the Puerto Rican Parade in New York;the Puerto Rican Parade of Osceola;the Namm Show in Anaheim - California, the Heineken Mayagüez Jazz Fest, the First International Encounter of Percussion, University of Antioquia and the International Jazz Festival of the Teatro Libre. Currently, Fabio is a member of the percussion and voices duo TAPIAOS, is the percussionist and founder of the Latin jazz septet IGARAGÓ, percussionist and composer at SLANGCHORDS and is the percussionist of the BOGOTÁ CLARINET QUARTET.
