Biography
Sylvain FABRE, early and modern percussion.
A classical musician, Sylvain Fabre graduated from the CRR of tours in the class of Jean-Baptiste Couturier, from the CSP-CRR of Paris in the class of Frédéric Macarez. One of the particularities of percussion is this possibility of traveling in various styles and periods, with Sylvain as leitmotiv the relation to dance. The practice of the early percussion leads him to develop the art of minstrel (Art to accompany the Dance) within the “Compagnie Outre Mesure” from 1993 to 2007, but also to play with ensembles such as “Compagnie Maitre Guillaume”, “Doulce Mémoire”, “Il Ballo”, "la dolçe sere", also in baroque music with “le Concert d’Astrée”, “Pygmalion“, “Correspondances”, “Les surprises”, “les Ambassadeurs“, "le Poème harmonique", "la simphonie du marais", le ”Holland Baroque Society” (NL), "collegium 1704" (CZ), in duet with François Lazarevitch (flutes, bagpipes) or Laura Monica Pustilnik (luths), “DuOrigine"....
"Modern" percussions allow Sylvain Fabre to participate in projects such as “Sloï” (traditional music), “Anne de Bretagne” (rock opera with Alan Simon, Ange, Nilda Fernandez, Tri Yann, Laurent Tixier…), “Alain Pennec” (breton music), “Orlando Poleo” (latin), “Ibrahim Maalouf” (oriental jazz), “Extension” (Jazz), “Benoit Sarocchi” (corsican polyphonies)... or orchestras : “l’orchestre de Picardie”, “l’orchestre colonne”, “l’orchestre de Mulhouse”, “ l’Orchestre Symphonique de Tours” and as a soloist with Virginie Tripette (recorders) for the "Polyphonic Choirs of Auvergne". All these concerts have led him to play in halls of several continents and record CDs.
This diversity of activities, Sylvain shares with his students through discoveries of instruments, workshops… since 1994 he teaches in various schools of music or conservatories (CRR Tours from 2002 to 2004, CRM of St-Cyr-sur-Loire (where he holds his position since 2007) as well as master classes or internships.
“LigeRythme” is the name of the company that Sylvain Fabre created in 2009 to develop its activities such as composition and arrangement (Nilda Fernandez, Royal Castle of Blois, International festival of Cugand...), also propose artists who recorded the music and filmed (“la très excellente et divertissante histoire de François Rabelais” by Hervé Baslé for France Télévision).
Sylvain was also artistic advisor for the Royal Castle of Blois during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
